Ray Nikiel and
Jean Picard, (Chong Lee Black belts) played crucial roles in the Canadian
team that
dominated team and individual competition in Canada and North America in
the early 70's and 80's.
While Ray often squared off against Mike Warren or Joseph Hayes
in Canada v USA matches, the
powerful Jean Picard usually faced the ever formidable Albert Cheeks
or Gerard Robbins. Ray was
one of a handful of persons to defeat Mike Warren, Joseph Hayes, as well
as Luis Delagado, the only person
to have defeated Chuck Norris in Norris' heyday
