the 1st Canadian Taekwondo Championships in 1986. She has trained under the Founder
of Tae Kwon Do in Canada Grand Master Chong Lee since 1972. She opened a successful
school in 1987 when she relocated from Montreal to Whistler. The school specializes in WTF
Olympic style Tae Kwon Do. Her dream was to open up a school in a small town because
she loved the sport so much. She desired to share her passion with others and hoped they
would come to feel that Tae Kwon Do is a life long journey. She has also taught Tae-Bo kick-
boxing, a combination of martial art kicks and punchesmoving to the rhythm of music. Her
accomplishments inspired and motivated Canadian women and demonstrated to them that
they could be successful in anything they tried. She was one of the first women in Canada to
excel in Tae Kwon Do.  A fierce competitor with a gentle heart, Dawn was instrumental in
increasing the number of women practicing Tae Kwon Do in Canada. -  by Ray Nikiel
