Mitchell Bobrow
Mitchell Bobrow fought and bested the best of his era. Known
for his
trademark jump back kick, Mitchell Bobrow was nicknamed "Boy wonder".
Bobrow was featured in the movies
"Coneheads", "Blackbelt",
and Disney's
"Wild Jack". He also appeared on television in "Young and Restless", "Days
of our Lives", and "Max Monroe". Mitchell Bobrow was selected to
serve as honorary chairman of the Inaugural
Taekwondo Hall of Fame
Induction Ceremony which was held in New Jersey on April
6th, 2007.
At the ceremony, Mitchell was inducted as the "Best Fighter of the 60's".
His bouts with Joseph Hayes, Chuck Norris, Joe Lewis, Byron Jones
and other greats of the day are legendary. Being awarded his blackbelt
by
Ki Whang Kim in 1965, he was rated by BlackBelt Magazine in 1967, 1968,
and 1969 as one of the "Top 10 Fighters" in the world. He created
the first
chartered High School Taekwondo Club in 1966 at
Bethesda Chevy Chase.
A partial list of his wins include,Grand Champion at the 1969 American
Invita-
tional in Wash., D.C., HeavyWeight Champion at Richard Chun's 1968
Uni-
versal Championships in New York, Grand Champion in Fighting & Forms
at
the 1966 Inter-American Championships in Baltimore, Maryland and Grand
Champion at the 1969 Marine Corps Championships at Quantico, Virginia.
Bobrow represented Taekwondo as a US team member in the 1st World
Karate Championships in 1968 in Tokyo, Japan. Mitchell Bobrow is also
the Founder of Otomix Martial Arts Gear.
