Quotes from UEFA Cup semifinalists
NYON, Switzerland, March 24 (Reuters) - Following are quotes
from the four clubs involved in the UEFA Cup semifinals:
David Dein, vice-chairman of Arsenal who play Racing Lens:
"We're good friends - half our team is French after all. We
played last season and had two good matches. We drew one and
tragically we lost at home in the return which was a disaster
for us. Of course we want revenge but we have a cordial
relationship with Lens."
Jean-Luc Arribart, technical director at Lens:
"We think it's good to get Arsenal especially as we are
playing at Highbury first. We have had trouble in the French
championship but wins over big teams like Celta Vigo has given
us a lot of confidence. (Arsenal manager) Arsene Wenger is a
good friend and I am looking forward to coming up against him."
Galatasary play Leeds United in the other semifinal.
Leeds United chairman Peter Ridsdale:
"I'm just pleased we've avoided Arsenal at this stage and
that we are away from home for the first leg. We set out our
stall at the start of the season to get a place in the Champions
League and the UEFA Cup has been a great bonus for us. With that
draw I think we have a good chance to get to the final."
Mete Razlikli, technical director at Galatasaray:
"We did not mind who we drew in the semifinals. If we win
the trophy it will be the first time that national champions
will have won the UEFA Cup. Victory will be a major boost not
just for us but Turkish football as a whole."
