Milan release Brazil World Cup winner Rivaldo
Sept 26, 2003 - Disillusioned Brazilian World Cup winner Rivaldo has been released by his Italian club AC Milan.
The 31-year-old former Barcelona star joined Milan after a superb World Cup but had a poor season in Serie A and fell out of favour with coach Carlo Ancelotti.
Milan won the Champions League and Italian Cup last season but Rivaldo scored just five goals in 22 league appearances.
He was linked with a move to Real Madrid this week.
Milan chief Adriano Gallani said the club agreed to the player's request
to leave.
