FIFA HELPS NICARAGUA AND HONDURAS

Zürich, 12 November 1998 - The devastating disaster wreaked by the hurricane in the two central American states, Nicaragua and Honduras, has prompted FIFA to act. The world governing body has resolved to send aid to the association in each country. The President of the Spanish football association and a member of the FIFA Executive Committee, Angel Maria Villar, flew to Nicaragua today to see for himself exactly what kind of help is needed in Nicaragua and in Honduras.

Villar will be accompanied by the Costa Rican FIFA ExecutiveCommittee member, Sasso Sasso. Villar and Sasso Sasso will draft a report for the executive body of the world governing body, which is due to meet in Zurich on 3 and 4 December and will decide on appropriate action.
