FIFA and Organising Committee to present 2006 FIFA World Cup

Zürich, 8 October 2002 - FIFA and the 2006 FIFA World Cup Organising Committee Germany will officially unveil the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany emblem on November 19, 2002.
The date, one day prior to a friendly match between Germany and the Netherlands, was announced today (Monday) by the President of the Local Organising Committee, Franz Beckenbauer, and FIFA official Guido Tognoni during a press conference in Hamburg. There the LOC revealed a newly forged partnership with the insurance company Hamburg-Mannheimer Inc. to be one of the six Official Suppliers.
"The presentation of the official tournament emblem will kick off all of our national and international public relations efforts," said Beckenbauer. The presentation of the emblem will be held at "AufSchalke", the state-of-the-art arena of Bundesliga club FC Schalke 04. From now, all communications will be branded with the tournament emblem. Neither Beckenbauer nor Tognoni made any further statements concerning the design of the emblem, while Fedor Radmann, Vice President of the OC, revealed: "The emblem will express our overall philosophy, which is to invite the world to a joyful celebration in the heart of Europe." Radmann is also responsible for marketing and visual identity of the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany.
